I recently received a Notification of that my Tax Code has changed - what do I do?  
Send it to you accounts team who will check it. Sometimes coding notices are based on previous employment circumstances; your accounts team will make sure it is appropriate for your current circumstances, and have HMRC put right any errors.  
   
Do I have to have a Company Secretary?  
Yes. Although the requirement to have a company secretary will disappear in the near future, currently every Limited Company MUST have a nominated Company Secretary.  
   
Does a Company Secretary have any rights over my company?  
No, the Company Secretary has no special rights, unless you expressly grant them in a contract of employment.  
   
Who can be a company secretary? Do they need experience or qualifications?  
Anyone (within reason) can be a company secretary for a Limited Company. They need no qualifications or previous experience.  
   
VAT - How long will it take for the Revenue to issue a VAT number for may company  
VAT numbers are normally issued within six weeks. If the Revenue are particularly busy or have a backlog, it may take longer. Your Accounts Team can give you an indication of the current lead-time.  
   
What is IR35?  
IR35 is a set of rules issued by the Revenue that determine whether you are doing work which should be taxed in a similar way to a regular PAYE employee (inside IR35), or whether you should get the benefits and flexibility of being taxed as a director (outside IR35). What happened to the PAYE incentive HMRC were going to pay?
HMRC have apologised for delaying these payments, and plan that all entitled companies will be paid shortly.
